When deciding whether to approve your application and grant a commutation of your sentence, the governor will consider the following factors, among others:

  • The nature and severity of your crime
  • The sentence imposed
  • Harm suffered by victims
  • The age of the crime and your age at the time the crime took place
  • Your age at the time of the application
  • How much of your sentence you have already served
  • The impact of a commutation on the community
  • Your plans upon release from custody
  • Your conduct since the crime
  • Your rehabilitation during incarceration
